What a wonderful gathering! I guess I hadn’t thought about what an amazing thing we had done until everyone started sharing their perspectives on the 40 Day Challenge. They were open and insightful and made me so happy that I stuck it out and was part of such and inspiring group!
It’s funny, I started to get a sore throat on the way there and it got worse and worse as the night wore on. I didn’t feel bad at all during the way. It was really a surprise, but all I wanted to do do was go home and go to bed. Was my body saying “no more yoga, please!” or were allergies finally catching up with me? We’ll “no more yoga” is not an option, but I will take a break this weekend. Just a little one.
My next challenge, although a very short one, is taking a trapese class. Doesn’t that sound like fun? After I booked it, I watched a video and realized how high up you have to climb to do it and started having second thoughts. I hope I don’t chicken out. But it sounded like a fun and crazy thing to do and it was half off!
I made it! I am really proud of myself and happy that I tried it and did it! Who would have thought I could do that many classes in that amount of time? Not me! It was really a treat. I’ve enjoyed every class in many different ways. My body, my mind, my energy level. It’s just been really cool.
I confessed that I went to happy hour before class today. It wasn’t that I was celebrating already, it was just a scheduling thing. But that shows how determined I was to make all 30 classes. I didn’t stay too long or drink too much. But maybe I was a bit wobbly on the balance poses!
Oh my shoulders and chest were sore today. Too many plank pushups yesterday. It was a tough class yesterday. Today was just what I need to help my body out. Erin talked about being content with where we are and what we’ve got. She’s right. We spend so much time worrying or planning for the future, sometimes we don’t stop to enjoy the here and now. Point well taken.
Still waiting for my hot bath from yesterday.
Today was a tough class. Kalena worked us hard! Planks with blocks and going down and holding before touching the ground. I deserve a hot bath tonight! The best part was when we were putting our legs up on the walll and I fell off my cushion! It was the funniest thing. I finally got myself wedged back on there, but it took a little struggle. Another great day in the yoga lounge!
Angela had such a fun class tonight! She was in the Mardi Gras spirit with the music, the beads, the cake and the moves! Wow! How fun! What a great way to end a great day. I did have to work, but the students had the day off, so I could play catch up.
I’ve been reading the blogs of the other 30 in 40 day people and I’m always amazed at how much they remember about each class. I wonder if they sit and write notes in the car before they leave the parking lot? I should because I find it hard to remember the special words or positions. But I don’t forget the great feeling I have when I leave. My body is so happy with me and my mind. Now if I could just keep my shoulders back and down!
Okay, we’re into the home stretch! I’m kind of getting an obsession with making sure I get to class. Thursday night I was running late for the Relax and Restore class. I was yanking jewelry off in the car, pulling my socks off at the light and just hoping that the door wouldn’t be locked when I got there. It was very full, but Emily was very kind to let me in and move over to make space for me. Elizabeth gave up her blanket. Everybody was welcoming and didn’t make me sit in the middle by myself! I did do yoga in my work clothes though. Thank goodness for stretch pants. I’m so glad I made it. It was the perfect ending to a crazy day. I couldn’t have scripted it any better.
On Friday I made it to Kalena’s 5p class. There were only 3 students, but were were so lucky to do the Breath of Joy! Very cool, can’t wait to show my friends at work. I think it would be a great addition to our team meetings!! Also she sang her mantra. She was talking about it one minute and then suddenly she broke into verse. Lovely notes piercing the quiet of the room.
Saturday, I made it out in the rain for the 915 class with Zelinda. It was worth it. Lots of legwork. I was thinking about the dancers I saw the night before, Pilobolus. They were amazingly athletic, artistic and had gorgeous sculpted bodies. I thought for sure they must do yoga in addition to all the other workouts they must do. Check them out – www.pilobolus.com .
I did eventually get that bath in that she recommended. A great day!
It was good. I needed it. I’ll be back!
I think I fell asleep momentarily. We laid our chests on the bolsters in a kind of child’s pose position. It was lovely. And we got to do it twice because we turned our cheeks. I needed that reprieve from the stress of my life so badly. It is such a luxury that I’ve grown accustomed to.
