I do hear lots of now familiar vocabulary and it’s explained during class, but I wonder how they are spelled and usually can’t remember the word after I leave the studio. So here’s just a couple to help me remember:

Asana (“seat”): A physical posture, and the third limb of Patanjali’s eightfold path (astha-anga-yoga). Originally this meant only meditation posture, but subsequently, in hatha yoga, this aspect of the yogic path was greatly developed.

Mudra (“seal”): A hand gesture or whole-body gesture.
